CONGRATULATIONS Panagiota Stamatopoulou & Cassandra Lafleur!
The Northern New England Chapter of SWANA is pleased to announce that they have selected two winners of this year’s Steve Parker Memorial Scholarship. The recipients were selected based on their stellar resumes and proven interest and commitment to the Solid Waste industry. Each recipient received $1000 toward their future education.
Cassandra Lafleur of Dover, NH will be attending the University of New Hampshire this fall. She is enrolled in the Chemical Engineering/ Materials Science & Engineering major and was influential in helping her high school switch from single-use plastic to metal cutlery in their cafeteria to help reduce waste production.
Panagiota Stamatopoulou is an Environmental Engineering, Ph.D. student at the University of Vermont who has already co-authored numerous solid waste-related journal articles and assisted in the preparation of waste management plans for Greek municipalities. Panagiota is also a student member of SWANA.
We congratulate each recipient on their award and look forward to seeing the impact each one will make on our industry in the future.
